Birdhouse in my Soul

So, on the way to work, Ben Weasel is talking to me. He tells me "2: Don't try to be something you're not." I think about how I'm setting myself up for all this tie-wearing. All these office Christmas parties. All these jokes about Mondays and maybe, if I'm lucky, a few power lunches. And at worst, my daily trip to the coffee machine for my ration of Soma. The only thing that can save me is irrationality. Am I going to come through this as me? On the other side of that white picket fence is hell. It's full of fire and brimstone and neatly manicured lawns. It's a land of plenty and it makes you soft, content, and useless at best. It makes you soggy so you don't burn anymore. You stop living, and you replace what's lost with a 12"x6" pine Birdhouse set on a pine base. Hand painted and decorated with a Cedar roof. The popular Moon and Stars design is hand painted. Roof has a hand painted chimney with a star extending on curled wire. Spanish moss embellishes the pine base. The large white star is extended on curled wire attached to the base. Colors: midnight blue house and country yellow base. Maybe I'm crazy for caring.
